Another Partner for Mozambique's National Legal Aid Institute

Mozambique's national Legal Aid Institute (IPAJ) signed in the norther city of Nampula on Friday a memorandum of understanding with the Legal Support Unit of the Law Faculty of the Catholic University (UCM) aimed at guaranteeing legal support to needy Mozambicans.

New Legislations

The new legislation are: Ministry Diploma no. 22/2008 of 26 of March; Decree no. 4/2008 of 9 of April; Decree no. 5/2008 of 9 of April; Ministry of Mineral Resources Dispatch: (BR 1st Series, no.12 of 19 March 2008) and Ministry of Mineral Resources Dispatch: (BR 1st Series, no.12 of 19 March 2008).

New Minimum Wages Announced

The Mozambican government approved new statutory minimum wages for nine sectors of activity. The new minimum wages represent increases of between 10 and 30 per cent.

Recent Developments in the Laws of Mozambique

The Mozambican Parliament enacted new personal income tax, corporate income tax and value added tax legislation at the end of last year. The new legislation came into force on 1 January 2008 and will apply to the 2008 tax year.
